Health and Wellness

Parish Nurse

The purpose of the Parish Nurse Program is to assist members and others in the community to reach their optimal level of whole person health. Helping to meet the emotional, physical and spiritual needs of individuals is the desired outcome of such a program.

The Parish Nurse acts as counselor, educator and nurse by identifying needs of the congregation, coordinating health screenings, providing educational programs, supplying health literature, and referral to, or direct provision of, supportive services. She maintains an active visitation program to members who are homebound, hospitalized on in nursing homes.

 Walk the Walk

Join us on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays in the new Gym anytime between 7-10:00am to get started on your Walking.   You may enter through Entrance D or K.

Walking for 30 minutes a day is great exercise and cost you nothing but time. In Janet Holm McHenry’s book, Prayer Walk, she talks of 3 “d’s: Discipline, Decision, and Daily. To get out and walk daily requires a decision. You are the only one that can make that Decision. After the decision has been made to walk or exercise Daily, then you are another step toward discipline. Discipline that will lead to Daily walking or exercise.

Widow2Widow ™

Boones Creek Christian Church has an active Widow2Widow ™ program designed to minister to widows of all ages.  The Widow2Widow group meets monthly usually the 3rd Thursday of the month, pending the activity.  Some of the activities include plays, movies, games, storytelling, service projects, and eating out. We invite each widow to come and join us for a time of  fun, food, and fellowship.

Widow2Widow is a ministry that was started by Elaine Cook who found herself a widow at the age of 38.  Elaine knew starting a ministry for widows was her calling.  Elaine started this ministry at Brentwood Baptist Church in Nashville, Tennessee.  The mission is to offer a ministry of encouragement, comfort, support and guidance to women who are dealing with the loss of their husbands.  Many churches are present for new widows immediately after the death, but it takes the ministry of another widow to reach out to their hearts and help them with the healing process.

Dear friend, I pray that you may enjoy good health and that all may go well with you, even as your soul is getting along well.   3 John 1:2
